I was delighted to find some websites about Douglass Pratt.
I am Patron of the Newcastle Girls'High School Ex-Students'UnionI have been associated with our Union, since 1960. At some time ???about the 1990's - I'd have to check our minute book to see exactly when... we were (The Ex-Students'Union) bequeathed a Douglas Pratt original drawing of our school by one of our headmistresses. The framed work had quite an amout of "foxing"on the paper and we had it carefully restored by specialists who were recommended to us, at the time, by the Newcastle Art Gallery.
We had professional copies made, so they could be displayed in the present school (now a coeducational district High School) and we presented the original drawing to the Newcastle Art Gallery. We also made copies of the work to be printed onto cardboard to make commemorative notepaper/cards, to sell to our Ex-students at our annual reunion.
Those Ex-students who were present during the term of duty of the Headmistress who bequeathed it to us, said there were, during her time at the school, more than a few of Pratt's work hanging in the school corridors and in the office of the Headmistress. Douglass Pratt was said to be a friend of the Head & the girls always suspected he was ä bit sweet on her".
I should like to know if any other of Pratt's known drawings/paintings are known to be of Newcastle.
Regards,
Robin Gordon

Kiera,

I was not aware that I had done a 'blog' as this article was written for the NSW Postcard Society a few years back. I do not understand why the date of 30/11/2011 appears as its entry? What exactly do you want more of?
