Postal Auctions

Every six months the Society conducts a postal auction in which members can sell and bid for postcards, cigarette cards, trade cards and certain types of ephemera (paper collectables). The auction catalogue is circulated to members at least a month before bidding closes, and typically offers many hundreds of  items, of which some are illustrated to assist bidders determine how much to bid. Each item is carefully described, and its condition is stated using a standard set of descriptors. A reserve is specified for each item. A list of the prices realised from the previous auction is published at the end of each auction catalogue. A modest commission is charged on each item sold, to defray the costs of conducting the Auction.

If you are not currently a member of the Society and you wish to sell items through the Postal Auction, you will need to contact the Auctioneer to ascertain if your items are suitable. If the auctioneer indicates that they are, and you wish to proceed, you will need to join the Club (see Membership) and follow the Auctioneer’s instructions in sending the items for inclusion in a future Postal Auction. If you are not currently a member of the Society and you wish to bid on items in the Postal Auction , you will need to join the Club (see Membership) before you are eligible to bid.
